2026 General Education Course Video Production Competition and Exhibition Results Presentation

The Center for General Education at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech) will hold the “2026 General Education Course Video Production Competition and Exhibition Results Presentation” on June 10, 2026 (Wednesday), 9:00–12:00, at the YunChuang Hall, 1st Floor, Art Center, YunTech campus.

General education courses differ from conventional classroom instruction by emphasizing innovation- and practice-oriented learning. Through diverse course designs and interdisciplinary learning activities, students are trained to develop problem-solving abilities, civic engagement, and sustainability literacy. By integrating classroom discussions, field visits, and teamwork, students transform academic knowledge into practical outcomes, demonstrating both their learning process and instructors’ teaching innovation. This approach highlights the value of moving from classroom learning to real-world practice, and from knowledge acquisition to societal engagement.

This year’s exhibition features four major highlights, showcasing YunTech General Education’s distinctive “learning by doing, innovating through learning” philosophy.

1. Interdisciplinary Practice through Featured Courses

The curriculum integrates humanities, social sciences, aesthetics, industry, and technology through project-based planning and creative design. Students demonstrate creativity, expression, autonomous learning, and hands-on practice. They are encouraged to identify real-life problems, propose solutions, and develop interdisciplinary integration and practical application skills, reflecting the younger generation’s awareness and action-oriented mindset toward future societal challenges.

2. “Career Navigation × Sustainability Literacy” Student Video Competition

To enhance students’ understanding of career planning and sustainable development, participants are encouraged to produce video narratives combining personal growth, career exploration, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through visual storytelling, students address topics such as environmental protection, social equity, mental health, and future career development, offering reflections from a youth perspective. The works demonstrate not only digital media competence but also strong social awareness and commitment to sustainability values.

3. Innovative Teaching Practices Sharing by Faculty

The exhibition includes presentations by faculty members on innovative teaching approaches such as problem-based learning (PBL), interdisciplinary collaboration, digital teaching tools, situational simulation, and local engagement. These pedagogical innovations enhance student participation, deepen critical thinking, and strengthen teamwork and real-world application skills, highlighting new directions in higher education for cultivating future-ready talent.

4. Intergenerational Learning through Puppet Theater Performance with Senior Citizens

One of the most meaningful highlights is a puppet theater performance jointly presented by students and elderly residents from veteran care homes. Through service-learning courses, students collaborate with senior participants to engage in traditional performing arts, fostering intergenerational exchange, cultural heritage preservation, and social care. The performance not only showcases student creativity and stage performance skills but also enables elderly participants to regain a sense of engagement and vitality. This initiative embodies the human-centered spirit of general education, emphasizing respect, companionship, and humanistic care.

This exhibition serves not only as a platform for student creativity but also as a successful realization of intergenerational learning and sustainable educational values. It brings warmth and inspiration to both the campus and the community, reinforcing the role of general education in cultivating innovation and civic responsibility. General education is not merely knowledge transmission; it is the cultivation of essential competencies. The Center will continue to promote intergenerational learning and diverse educational practices, encouraging students to move beyond the classroom and engage with society. By integrating sustainability, digital innovation, and local engagement, YunTech aims to build a more impactful learning environment and nurture a new generation of professionals with expertise, humanistic care, and global vision.
