Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Environment Jointly Advance Net-Zero Green Talent Development — First Cohort Successfully Completed

Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Environment Jointly Advance Net-Zero Green Talent Development — First Cohort Successfully Completed

In response to the global trend toward net-zero emissions, the Ministry of Labor’s “Industrial Talent Investment Program” has, for the first time, collaborated with the Ministry of Environment’s “Net-Zero Green Talent Development Program.” The Department of Environmental and Safety Engineering at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (NYUST) launched the inaugural course on March 21, 2026, and held its completion ceremony on April 19, 2026. Participants from diverse professional backgrounds responded enthusiastically, enhancing their understanding of net-zero concepts while demonstrating strong interest in interdisciplinary learning.

The program featured distinguished speakers, including Mr. Chang Ken-Mu, Deputy Director General of the Climate Change Administration, who engaged participants in discussions on future trends and policy planning. Former Minister of the Environmental Protection Administration, Mr. Chang Tzu-Ching, also delivered a keynote lecture, guiding participants through Taiwan’s historical greenhouse gas development trends and sharing insights on climate policy and the growth of green industries. In addition, a professional team with over ten years of experience in climate strategy provided instruction covering fundamental climate change knowledge, relevant regulations, carbon pricing, voluntary reduction mechanisms, inventory and verification processes, and practical carbon footprint case studies. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on exercises, the program effectively strengthened participants’ professional competencies and enhanced their readiness for future roles in the net-zero transition.

Participant feedback indicated that the program closely aligns with national sustainability goals, successfully integrating theory with practice in a way that is both accessible and applicable. The training has significantly improved participants’ sustainability literacy and practical skills, serving as a key stepping stone for career advancement and transformation. With support from the Ministry of Labor’s subsidy mechanism, participants are eligible for tuition subsidies ranging from 80% to full coverage, enabling them to enhance professional capabilities and expand career opportunities.

Due to strong demand, the Department plans to offer a second cohort for working professionals later this year. Interested individuals are encouraged to follow updates on the Taiwan Jobs website for in-service training opportunities. In addition, weekday and weekend classes will be offered starting May 17 and in late July, open to the general public and students. Tuition subsidy programs are available for university students, as well as individuals from low-income and lower-middle-income households and persons with disabilities. The university’s Central Taiwan Training Center will also offer courses in Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, and Nantou to further expand training capacity. For more information, please visit the Ministry of Environment’s “Net-Zero Green Talent Development Program” website or the Ministry of Labor website.
