20th Annual 2026 “Creative Lifestyle Design Camp: CreateSHOW”

YunTech Creates Idol Trainee Audition Stage, Leading High School Students to Showcase Their Creativity

The Department of Creative Lifestyle Design at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech) will hold the 20th Annual Creative Lifestyle Design Camp, CreateSHOW, during the 2026 winter break. The four-day event will take place from January 25 to January 28, 2026, bringing together high school and vocational students from across Taiwan. Through hands-on design projects and teamwork, participants will explore diverse aspects of creative lifestyle design.

This year’s camp adopts the theme of an “Idol Trainee Audition,” transforming design learning into a dynamic creative stage. Participating students become “creative trainees,” continuously honing their design skills through intensive courses and group challenges. Ultimately, they will perform on their very own CreateSHOW stage to present their achievements.

Diverse Hands-on Workshops Illuminate Creativity Through Practice

The camp features a variety of distinctive workshops that integrate material manipulation, design thinking, and practical application, encouraging students to learn by doing and discover the possibilities of design. Key workshops include:

• Night Light — “Night Live Flash Show”: Students learn about lamp structures and light arrangement to create small-scale lighting pieces that combine functionality and ambiance.

• Ceramics — “Chopsticks for You, Chopstick Holder for Me”: Using clay sculpting, students design personalized household items, experiencing the blend of tactile sensation and form.

• Metalwork — “Forge Your Idol Mark”: Participants operate metal tools, progressing from design to fabrication, to complete metalwork pieces that symbolize their personal style.

• Stamp Carving — “Trainee Level A Certification”: Through engraving practice, students cultivate attention to detail and design precision by making their own personalized identification stamps.

In addition to hands-on workshops, the camp includes exhibition design experiences and a design workcamp presentation, enabling students to transform their creations into curated displays and learn comprehensive spatial planning and visual presentation skills.

Team Challenges and Evening Events Foster Collaboration and Creative Expression

To enhance interaction and teamwork among participants, the camp incorporates group competitions, social activities, and evening events. These activities build camaraderie in a relaxed environment while encouraging confidence and presentation skills through stage performances and project showcases. The experience emphasizes that “creativity is not only about the work produced but also a process of communication and collaboration.”

Associate Professor Hsieh Hsiu-Ching, Chair of the Department of Creative Lifestyle Design, stated:

By adopting the idol trainee concept, we hope students can discover their potential through hands-on practice and teamwork, realizing that design originates from daily life and responds to societal and human needs. Since its establishment in 2006, YunTech’s Department of Creative Lifestyle Design has been dedicated to nurturing creative design talents that integrate culture, lifestyle, and industry. Its expertise spans cultural creativity, community engagement, lifestyle design, and exhibition planning.
