Program Overview

The Spain Center for International Education (SpaCIE) launched the Climate Change Summer School (CCSS): An Interdisciplinary Approach to Climate Change in 2021.

CCSS offers a unique opportunity to expand your academic horizons by learning from world-class university professors while experiencing one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich cities. Do not miss the chance to join the 6th edition of CCSS—a transformative journey that can reshape your perspective on the world.

Participants will gain fresh insights into some of humanity’s most pressing challenges, enhance their academic and professional development, and build lasting friendships with peers from around the globe. The program also provides an immersive experience in Spanish culture, cuisine, and lifestyle—offering space for both intellectual and personal discovery.

Location

CCSS is held at University City of Madrid (Ciudad Universitaria), a major academic campus located in the University City district of Madrid. Since 1999, the campus has been designated a cultural heritage site under the category of historic landmarks.

The campus is shared by several leading institutions, including:

• Complutense University of Madrid

• Polytechnic University of Madrid

• National University of Distance Education (UNED)

It also hosts renowned research institutions such as the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT).

Academic Content

Participants may enroll in:

• A two-week intensive program (6 ECTS credits) featuring high-quality interdisciplinary coursework taught in English by leading professors and distinguished professionals from industry. Faculty expertise spans a wide range of disciplines, including:

  • Arts, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Geography, Humanities, Law, Medicine, Physics, Political Science, and Sociology.

• A four-week extended program (12 ECTS credits) running from June 29 to July 24, 2026, offering deeper academic engagement and expanded coursework.
