The Canadian nonprofit national research organization Mitacs, in collaboration with Taiwan's National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs), is offering three competitive talent cultivation programs:
1. Globalink Research Internship (GRI)
Target Participants:
Taiwanese undergraduate students (upperclassmen) going to Canada; funding is one-way (Taiwan → Canada).
Eligibility:

Open to 30 Taiwanese university students in their 3rd or 4th year (having completed at least two years of study).

Research internship period: May–October each year.
-
Open to all disciplines.
Funding Includes:
-
A 12-week research project in Canada.

Supervision by a professor at the host Canadian institution.

Funding up to CAD $12,000, covering:

Round-trip airfare
-
Living allowance
-
Insurance
-
-
Professional development training programs.
2. Globalink Research Award (GRA)
Target Participants:
Taiwanese graduate students (Master’s, PhD) and postdoctoral researchers going to Canada.
This is bilateral funding—Taiwanese researchers going to Canada and Canadian researchers coming to Taiwan.
Eligibility:

Open to 30 graduate students and postdocs from Taiwanese institutions.

Open to all disciplines.
Funding Includes:
-
A 12–24-week research project in Canada.

Scholarship up to CAD $6,000.
Two Application Routes:

Canadian university quota route:
Mitacs allocates quota to about 15 Canadian universities; these can be promoted to YunTech’s sister universities. -
Student-initiated route:
Students may contact a Canadian research lab directly and apply to Mitacs independently.
3. Study in Canada Scholarships
Target Participants:
Taiwanese students going to Canada for degree studies or exchange programs.
Eligibility:

Must be a citizen of an eligible country/region (including Taiwan, Bangladesh, Nepal, etc.).

Must be a full-time student at an eligible higher education institution in their home country.
Funding Amount:
-
Undergraduate & Master’s students: CAD $10,200 (4 months / 1 semester)

PhD students: CAD $12,700 (5–6 months)

Visa or study/work permit fees

Round-trip airfare
-
Health insurance
-
Living expenses
-
Other related costs
Application Procedure:

Inquire with your university’s Office of International Affairs.

Confirm eligibility and admission requirements of the Canadian host institution.

Application is submitted by the Canadian host institution (students do not apply individually).

Upon approval, students proceed to Canada for study.

After completion, students must return to their home institution in Taiwan.
Application Period:
January to mid-March each year, submitted by the Canadian host institution.
