NSTC “Spatial Information Technology Division – 2026 (Year 115) Announcement for General (Large-Scale) Research Projects and Thematic-Oriented Research Programs”

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) has issued the following announcement regarding the 2026 (Year 115) call for proposals under the Spatial Information Technology Division:

In addition to continuously encouraging free innovation and scientific exploration, the Spatial Information Technology Division aims to address increasingly diverse and complex societal issues. The division will further promote interdisciplinary academic collaboration and align research efforts with global trends in spatial information science and technology.
To strengthen Taiwan’s thematic research capacity in spatial information technology, the division will continue promoting thematic-oriented research programs in Year 115, with the goal of building academic consensus and research direction, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of resource utilization.


2. Key Scientific Topics for Year 115

(1) Spatiotemporal Big Data and Geo-Artificial Intelligence (GEO-AI)

(2) Cross-domain Spatial Data Sharing and Collaboration

(3) Observation Data Fusion and Enhancement Technologies Using Next-Generation Sensing Technologies

Applicants may still submit general large-scale research proposals, just as in previous years, to freely explore scientific topics of interest. Proposals are not limited to the highlighted thematic scientific issues listed above.

Matters not covered in this announcement shall be handled in accordance with the NSTC Regulations for Subsidizing Research Projects, the NSTC Guidelines for Research Project Budget Management, and the NSTC Research Project Subsidy Contract and Agreement, as well as other relevant laws and regulations.
