Rising Demand for AI-Era Technology Talent: YunTech Partners with Southern Taiwan Science Park to Launch a First Career Gateway for Youth
As demand for technology talent in the AI era continues to grow, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech) hosted the 2026 Southern Taiwan Science Park Technology Talent Forum: Dialogue on the Semiconductor and Technology Industries in the AI Era on March 18. The forum brought together representatives from government, industry, and academia to explore emerging trends and workforce needs in the technology sector.
The event was jointly organized by YunTech’s Office of Industry-Academia Collaboration, the Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau of the National Science and Technology Council, and the Southern Taiwan Science Park Industry-Academia Association. Senior executives from leading companies, including ASE Group, JPT Laser, and Merck Taiwan, were invited to share insights on industry developments. In conjunction with the forum, a campus recruitment event featured 11 companies from the Southern Taiwan Science Park, offering students valuable opportunities for engagement and career exploration.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Vice President for Industry-Academia Collaboration Tsan-Yao Chang of YunTech, Deputy Director General Hsiu-Chen Lin of the Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau, and Deputy Secretary-General Yen-Chen Liu of the Southern Taiwan Science Park Industry-Academia Association (Distinguished Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University), marking the official launch of the forum.
The Southern Taiwan Science Park is one of Taiwan’s प्रमुख high-tech industry clusters, encompassing sectors such as semiconductors, precision manufacturing, biotechnology and medical care, and smart technologies. It continues to attract global technology enterprises for investment and expansion. Through collaboration with universities, the park actively promotes talent cultivation and industry–academia exchange, aiming to encourage more young professionals to pursue careers in the technology sector.
Vice President Tsan-Yao Chang noted that with the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and smart manufacturing, there is an increasing demand for talent equipped with interdisciplinary integration and innovative capabilities. YunTech has long fostered close partnerships with technology enterprises through its industry–academia collaboration platform, offering diverse initiatives such as corporate internships, joint research projects, and campus forums. These efforts enable students to engage with industry practices and future trends during their studies, equipping them with a competitive edge for their careers.
In addition, a Spring Recruitment Zone featuring Southern Taiwan Science Park enterprises was held alongside the forum, bringing 11 companies to campus. Through recruitment activities and interactive exchanges, students gained deeper insights into the park’s industrial ecosystem and career opportunities in the technology sector, attracting strong participation.
Looking ahead, YunTech will continue to strengthen its collaboration with the Southern Taiwan Science Park and technology enterprises through forums, joint research initiatives, internship programs, and talent development mechanisms. By building a comprehensive industry–government–academia collaboration platform, the University aims to support young talent in transitioning smoothly from campus to industry, while contributing to innovation and sustainable growth in Taiwan’s technology sector—empowering students to embark on their career journeys from the south and turn their aspirations into reality.
