YunTech and ASE Establish Philippine Master’s Scholarship Program — A New Milestone in Talent Development

YunTech and ASE Launch Philippine Master’s Scholarship Program, Marking a New Milestone in Talent Development

To strengthen industry–academia collaboration and cultivate professional talent, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech) and ASE Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (ASE) signed a Philippine Elite Scholarship Cooperation Agreement on February 12, 2026. Hosted by YunTech, the signing ceremony was attended by ASE representatives, jointly marking a new chapter in educational–industry partnership.

ASE is the world’s largest provider of semiconductor packaging and testing services, with an estimated 44.6% global market share, serving over 90% of global electronics brands. Its Kaohsiung complex is the largest packaging and testing cluster worldwide and is actively advancing smart manufacturing across high-end applications such as automotive electronics, 5G, and high-performance computing, while promoting green factories and digital transformation. ASE also employs a significant international workforce; at its Kaohsiung site alone, more than 4,200 foreign employees—predominantly from the Philippines—serve in roles ranging from engineers to operations staff.

At the ceremony, YunTech President Chang Chuan-Yu thanked ASE for its long-standing support of talent development. He noted that the program will provide scholarships and post-graduation employment opportunities for outstanding Filipino students, enabling a smooth transition from academia to industry and fostering internationally competitive professionals in technical and managerial tracks.

ASE HR Director Zhan Zong-Mu emphasized that the scholarship aims to develop international talent with strong practical skills and cross-cultural communication capabilities, supporting graduates’ career entry and strengthening the company’s long-term talent pipeline.

Under the agreement, ASE will provide living stipends and tuition support. Scholarship recipients are required to work for ASE or designated affiliates for two years after graduation, ensuring sustained development of industry-ready professionals.

Director of International Affairs Yeh Hui-Ching highlighted that the partnership expands student resources while tightly aligning education with industry needs, creating a win-win outcome. She added that the program aligns with Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy by enhancing international exposure and strengthening talent linkages with Southeast Asia.

The successful signing marks a new phase in YunTech–ASE collaboration. Both parties will continue to deepen cooperation through additional joint projects and practical training to cultivate international professionals aligned with the evolving needs of the semiconductor industry.
