Model University for Sustainability, Platinum Award for Chinese Sustainability Report,
and Bronze Award for English Sustainability Report — A New Milestone in Sustainability Performance!**

The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) announced the winners of the 2025 Taiwan University Sustainability Awards (TUSA) on November 8, with the award ceremony held on November 26 at the Grand Hotel Taipei.
President Chang Chuan-Yu personally attended the event to accept the awards on behalf of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech).

In the “Overall Sustainability Performance” category, YunTech once again received the honor of being one of the Top 10 Model Universities for Sustainability in Taiwan.
The university also received the Platinum Award—the highest recognition—for its Chinese Sustainability Report, and the Bronze Award at the Global Corporate Sustainability Awards (GCSA) for its English Sustainability Report, demonstrating the university’s strong performance in sustainability governance and information disclosure.

This year, a total of 43 universities participated in the Taiwan University Sustainability Awards, with 24 universities competing in the highly competitive “Overall Performance” category.
YunTech’s continued excellence can be attributed to its long-term, steady development strategies.

With a vision to become an “internationally renowned university known for innovative teaching and strong industry linkage,” YunTech advances governance and instructional innovation through its Five Key Strategies:
Specialization, Academic Advancement, Industry–Academia Integration, Internationalization, and Precision Education.
The university actively connects with local industries and societal needs, completing nearly 1,000 industry–government–academia projects annually, totaling more than NT$1.5 billion.
In 2024, multiple faculty and student groups also visited Japan, Indonesia, the United States, and other countries to engage in exchanges on elderly care and low-carbon initiatives, demonstrating YunTech’s practical sustainability impact.

In terms of awards, YunTech achieved a total of 10 recognitions across TUSA, GCSA, and the Asia-Pacific & Taiwan Sustainable Action Awards (APSAA/TSAA):

• TUSA Top 10 Model Universities for Sustainability (Overall Performance) – 1 award

• TUSA Platinum Award for Chinese Sustainability Report – 1 award

• GCSA Bronze Award for English Sustainability Report – 1 award

• APSAA/TSAA – 7 action plan awards (1 Outstanding, 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze)

These achievements collectively showcase the university’s comprehensive progress in governance, reporting, and concrete action, highlighting the strong sustainability performance of both faculty and students.

YunTech has not only been consistently recognized domestically but has also demonstrated steady growth in international rankings.
In the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, YunTech remained in the top 501–600 globally for the third consecutive year, ranking 10th in Taiwan and 2nd among universities of science and technology.
In the 2025 THE Impact Rankings, YunTech ranked 77th globally.
In the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings, the university maintained a top-ten national position with strong academic research and global influence.
Additionally, in the 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, YunTech entered the top 5% globally, demonstrating excellence in both international academic performance and green campus development.

President Chang Chuan-Yu stated that the university will build upon its strong foundation and continue its long-term sustainability roadmap.
Through the newly proposed governance direction—“Transfer, Transformation, Transcendence (3T)”—YunTech aims to inherit past achievements, respond to emerging challenges, and further advance toward becoming a responsible smart university driven by technological innovation and service.

The university will continue strengthening communication with stakeholders, deepening positive social and environmental impact, and enhancing capacity in teaching and governance.
YunTech remains committed to contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strives to become a model sustainability university in Taiwan with both global vision and local responsibility.
