2026 NYUST Sustainable Campus Innovative Energy-Saving Challenge
Competition Objectives
To encourage students at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (NYUST) to actively participate in campus energy conservation, enhance energy efficiency, and strengthen the implementation of a sustainable, low-carbon campus, NYUST is launching the 2026 Sustainable Campus Innovative Energy-Saving Challenge.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the competition invites students to transform innovative energy-saving ideas into practical actions. Through effective and measurable solutions, participants will help reduce campus electricity consumption and carbon emissions while contributing to the development of a more sustainable and resilient campus environment.

Competition Theme
The competition focuses on innovative energy-saving initiatives implemented on the NYUST campus. Participants are encouraged to develop creative, practical, and economically viable solutions that improve energy efficiency and promote sustainable campus operations.
Entries must be submitted in the form of a short video documenting the entire project, including the planning process, implementation, and outcomes. Participants should present both qualitative descriptions and quantitative data to demonstrate the effectiveness of their proposed solution, while also identifying the relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goal(s) (SDGs) addressed by the project.
Potential topics may focus on common sources of electricity consumption on campus, such as classroom lighting, air-conditioning systems, computer equipment, water dispensers, elevators, and electrical appliances in public areas. Rather than promoting routine energy-saving behaviors (e.g., simply turning off lights when leaving a room), the competition encourages participants to propose innovative solutions, such as improving energy-use practices through smart technologies, designing reminder or monitoring systems, implementing energy management mechanisms, or introducing other creative approaches that significantly enhance energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen sustainable campus governance.
