YunTech was founded in 1991 and has gone through several stages, including the founding, rooting, takeoff, leading, brand-establishment, and it is now in its paradigm period. Yuntech has always adhered to the spirit of the school motto, sincerity, respect, perseverance, and innovation, and aims to develop into an internationally renowned university that integrates industry and academia and emphasizes innovative design. In recent years, YunTech has successfully promoted "reciprocal industry-academic educational collaborations" and become the "Central Taiwan Industrial Talent Cultivation Campus." Over the past decade, YunTech has benefited from financial support projects via the Ministry of Education grants, including the "Paradigm University of Science and Technology Development Plan" and the "Rewarding Teaching Excellence Plan for Universities of Science and Technology and Technical Colleges," YunTech has transformed its brand concept into school management by utilizing the advantages of industry-academia cooperation and innovative teaching, creating a practical and applicable technological university that integrates industry and academia and emphasizes innovative design. In 2018, YunTech has continued to receive five-year subsidies from the Ministry of Education's "Higher Education Sprout Project", further constructing a dual-track learning system to providing students with a suitable development and practical learning environment and developing a problem-based learning (PBL) system that connects with the industry, aiming to achieve the talent cultivation goal of suitable talent promotion and quality employment. YunTech will continue to refine its vision of becoming an internationally renowned university that emphasizes innovative teaching and industry-academia collaboration. This vision includes "aligning the development of faculty and students with economic, environmental, and social sustainability needs," "making outstanding contributions to local and global welfare," "shaping an innovative, intelligent, friendly, and sustainable campus," and "ranking among the top 100 in Asia and the top 1000 in the world." YunTech hopes to excel in the four aspects of student cultivation, teacher development, university contribution, and international influence.

YunTech currently houses five colleges: Engineering, Management, Design, Humanities and Sciences, and Future, with 24 departments (including 5 degree programs) in the four-year daytime division; 2 departments in the two-year daytime division; 2 degree programs in the four-year extension division; 28 institutes (including 1 degree program) in the master's daytime division; 15 institutes (including 1 degree program) in the master's in-service division; and 13 institutes (including 1 degree program) in the doctoral division. In terms of teaching, YunTech continues to pursue diversity and excellence within its existing faculty-based teaching system. In addition to offering comprehensive PBL courses, the university has also initiated structural adjustment projects at the institutional level (such as establishing college-level micro-courses in information technology, promoting an elite program, establishing an international cloud alliance, and setting up "innovative interdisciplinary" micro-courses in various departments). These initiatives encourage enrollment in STEM courses, strengthen digital transformation momentum, and advocate for industry-academia co-education training programs. In line with the significant changes in learning patterns under the 108 curriculum, the university has clarified students' learning adaptation from enrollment to graduation, established guidance information for challenging subjects, and improved the schooling stability. The schooling stability reached 96.69% in the 2022 academic year. YunTech has deepened the application of workplace-like facilities, cultivated core competencies needed by future industries through course design, and proposed a learning path map of "five domains" and "five powers". Through the planning of the learning map, YunTech focuses on key industries, assisting students in choosing their career development path among numerous courses, providing career development paths, laying a solid foundation for core competencies, and achieving the goal of "graduation means employment, and employment requires quality".

In terms of industry-academia collaboration, YunTech ranked first nationwide in the amount of industry-academia collaboration per teacher, according to the Ministry of Education's 2018 public information on university affairs. Since then, it has been ranked first among technical and vocational colleges for four consecutive years. YunTech has created a friendly environment for industry-academia collaboration, establishing the "Industry-Academia Research Building Dream Hub" as a base for the cultivation/incubation of technical and vocational talents in Taiwan. It promotes practical teaching by teachers and practical learning by students, perfecting the system of talent cultivation, industry-academia research and development, and technology transfer. The Dream Hub serves as a bridge between the industry and YunTech, facilitating the alignment of applied research in academia with industry needs, integrating technical elements and commercialization capabilities, attracting enterprises for joint development or production trials, and creating a cooperative platform for university and industry technology research and development. The teachers of YunTech are actively involved in industry-academia collaboration, and the amount of industry-academia collaboration per teacher has consistently been among the top seven nationwide, demonstrating YunTech's substantial strength in talent cultivation, industry-academia collaboration, and technology research and development.

In terms of international exchange, YunTech has signed sister school agreements with 356 renowned universities in 41 countries worldwide, with international students accounting for approximately 4.2% of the total student population. The university actively expands students' global perspectives by organizing various international academic exchange activities, operating exchange student agreements with sister schools, promoting overseas teaching for teachers and students, encouraging students to study or intern abroad, and recommending teachers for overseas practical study. The teaching qualities have received international certification and are in line with international standards. The College of Engineering has received the IEET (International Engineering and Technology Education) international "Engineering and Technology Education Accreditation" for all its departments. Similarly, the College of Management passed the AACSB international accreditation for the first time in 2014, making it the first national university in the central region to receive this accreditation. In 2019, it passed the accreditation again, making YunTech the first domestic university of science and technology to pass the AACSB re-accreditation, aligning the quality of education and student capabilities with international standards.

YunTech has demonstrated excellence in various aspects such as teaching quality, academic ethos, performance of industry-university cooperation, industrial services, international exchanges, social services, international exhibition of inventions competition, and post-graduation employment.
