Chu, Yun-Chen sets a new Event Record which was unbroken for 6 Years

It was the second day of the Track and Field Competition on May 19th. The sunny weather inspired confidence in the athletes and contributed to their outstanding performances. Unfortunately, once the heavy rain began, many of the runners were left to finish their competition in the wet. Chu, Yun-Chen from the National Taiwan University of Physical Education and Sport broke the event record for the Women’s Open 1500 metres, with a new time of 4:26.89. The previous record, 4:28.96, was set by Hsieh, Chien-He of National Kaohsiung Normal University.

Chu was happy to break the event record in her senior year. She originally worried a lot about whether the bad weather would influence the competition. Having only arrived at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech) today, there was no time for her to adapt to the local environment. Fortunately, the track was in a good condition which helped her run unhindered.

Che also said that she keeps herself in good condition so she could confidently break the record. She will try her best, and hope to achieve another great result in the 5000 meters competition on Wednesday.
