Prof. Qi-Ming Xu of Department of Safety Health and Environment Engineering wins 2011 Chemical Engineering prize.

Prof. Qi-Ming Xu of Department of Safety Health and Environment Engineering won 2011 Chemical Engineering prize by Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers (TWIChE).  This is the highest honor in terms of Chemical Engineers in Taiwan.  Prof. Qi-Ming Xu, along with his research team, has been devoted his time into chemical filed and got highly recognized from TWIChE.  He has published many papers on chemical process safety and runaway reaction, in addition to, contributed his results publicly. He is making a name for himself as his outstanding achievement.

TWIChE is one of the vital Engineering associations.  The members of which are from all academic and practical fields and have devoted their time to the relevant research and cultivate the intelligence. The purposes of YunTech are to connect theory and practice, in addition to, to combine humanities with technology.  YunTech provides research atmosphere and supports faculty and students to do research. This time YunTech recommend Prof. Qi-Ming Xu to TWIChE, and he got the judges’ recognized. We congratulate him for his achievements.

Prof. Qi-Ming Xu has published more than 110 papers in SCI and contributed a lot in terms of substance thermal decomposition reaction, heat explosion and runaway reaction. With teaching, he has taught for a long time with interesting ways.  Once he knew he won the prize, he still humbly said that I would like to thank my family, and the prize belongs to President Yang and the research team.

Prof. Qi-Ming Xu is the first scholar obtaining the prize in Safety Health and Environment Engineering filed in Taiwan. TWIChE proposed that the prizes were normally received by large-scale chemical engineering teams, such as Chang Chun Group, China Petrochemical Development Corporation or academic research teams.  This time Prof. Qi-Ming Xu won the prize, which shows he contributed a lot in chemical engineering and industrial field in Taiwan.
