Congratulations!  Eco-Clock made by Bo-Ru Huang and advised by Prof. Bo-Xiong Ye of Department of Industrial Design won a bronze medal in 2011 Lite-On Award.

The topic of 2011 Lite-On Award is eco life with seamless technology. They expect designers to design products with the spirit of ECO-Life, sustain this spirit, make a life style with Eco-Life and create a better world via technology.

The concept of creativity:

The concept of “ECO-Clock” is to collect drained batteries and use the low amount of power. Put 12 batteries in battery grips of the clock.  It can gather power from the batteries and use the power from drained batteries.

It is found that people normally collect drained batteries and keep them at home for a long time before recycling them.  These batteries normally have small amount of power, and the chemical may outflow slowly.  Not only do the batteries contaminate the environment, but it also increase the difficulty of recycling these batteries.
Eco-Clock can solve this problem. It can make the drained batteries become the source of power and finish the rest amount of power from the drained batteries. Eco clock can be full of interesting by ranking different kinds of drained batteries. People can experience the advantages from protecting.
