Construction of Building for Industry and Academic Research

Having received funding from the Ministry of Education (R.O.C.) under the category of Subsidy Directions for Developing Technological University Paradigms,” YunTech is establishing the Building for Industry and Academic Research in order to enable joint research and development of a sustainable form between the academia and industry. As a major part of “Project 2: Facilitate Joint Research and Development,” the building is being built to serve as a bridge between the industry and universities in central Taiwan, including  Miaoli, Taichung, Chanhua, Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan, and to assist faculty members and students of partner universities in having their awarded products commercialized and technology transferred. Furthermore, it is expected that the problems industry faces can be combined into courses, leading students to have practical experiences in solving business problems and absorb the trends of the industrial field.    

 

The Building for Industry and Academic Research is being designed and supervised by Joe Shih Architects and constructed by Rong Shin Engineering Incorporation. The Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of Interior (R.O.C.) is assisting YunTech in purchasing the required raw materials. The building is expected to scale 8 floors from the ground up and to have 1 floor underground, and it is also being built by refined concrete. The total budget for the whole building is more than NTD 410,000,000. The construction period began in August, 2015 and will last until June, 2017.

 

The building is being established so as to attain a closer link with e industry, achieve cultivation of the human resources of technological universities, and meet research needs. To maintain a high quality, YunTech is investing money on certain software and hardware while continually revising systems. The wide range of facilities that the building will afford users include: exhibition spaces, practice workshops, information and creative spaces, exchange lounge, Incubation Center for Academia-Industry Collaboration and Intellectual Property, human development resources room, startup business room for students, test center for commercialized products by research and development, product test center, equipment for stimulating the production line, platform for new businesses for technological universities in central Taiwan, parking lot and other public facilities.
