2026 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings: NYUST Demonstrates Leadership in Technological and Vocational Sustainability Impact

The latest 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Impact Rankings have been released by Times Higher Education, with National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (NYUST) ranked within the 101–200 global band. The university continues to maintain its position as the top-ranked university of science and technology in Taiwan, demonstrating strong performance in sustainable development, industry–academia innovation, and social responsibility.

The THE Impact Rankings assess universities based on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), evaluating their contributions across research, teaching, institutional governance, social engagement, and international collaboration. This year, NYUST achieved its most outstanding performance in SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, earning a score of 94.9. This result highlights the university’s long-standing strengths in industry collaboration, innovative research, technological application, and integration with industrial value chains.

In addition to SDG 9, NYUST also demonstrated strong performance in SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. These results reflect the university’s sustained efforts in governance, institutional development, local co-creation, urban sustainability, and social engagement. Furthermore, in SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, NYUST continues to show stable performance, underscoring its active expansion of international cooperation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global sustainability partnerships.

Compared with other universities of science and technology in Taiwan, NYUST once again ranks first among all technological universities nationwide. This achievement reinforces the university’s leading role in sustainable practices and industry impact within technical and vocational higher education. Guided by its core development principles of “industry–academia integration, innovative design, and sustainable governance,” NYUST continuously embeds the SDGs into institutional management, talent cultivation, research innovation, and community engagement.

Looking ahead, the university will further strengthen industry collaboration, circular sustainability initiatives, local co-creation efforts, and international partnerships, while expanding its tangible contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through these efforts, NYUST continues to fulfill its commitment to university social responsibility and to play a key role in addressing the evolving needs of industry and society.
