World-Class Vocal Ensemble to Perform in Yunlin for the First Time: Harvard Krokodiloes to Bring Taiwanese Classics to Life at NYUST on June 1

Organized by the Chong You Cultural and Educational Foundation and co-hosted by National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, the “Hi! Hi! A Cappella” international concert tour will take place on the evening of June 1 at the university’s YunTai Performance Hall. The event will feature the first-ever Yunlin appearance of The Harvard Krokodiloes, the oldest a cappella male singing group at Harvard University. Twelve outstanding student vocalists from Harvard will deliver a rare world-class musical experience in central Taiwan through a fully unaccompanied vocal performance.

Founded more than 80 years ago, The Harvard Krokodiloes is internationally renowned for its exceptional harmonies and charismatic stage performances. Each summer, the group embarks on a three-month global tour, performing in more than 20 countries across four continents. This year’s tour adopts the theme “Hi! Hi! A Cappella,” symbolizing the younger generation’s spirit of exploration and enthusiasm for embracing the global stage.

To connect more closely with Taiwanese audiences, the 12-member ensemble will perform not only classic Western repertoire, but also specially prepared songs exclusive to the Taiwan tour. Audience members will have the opportunity to hear Harvard students perform beloved Mandarin and Taiwanese classics entirely through vocal harmony, including “The Moon Represents My Heart,” “Fairy Tale,” and the well-known Yilan folk song “Diou Diou Dang.”

The concert will be held at YunTai Performance Hall, one of Yunlin County’s premier performing arts venues. With approximately 1,400 seats and professional acoustic design, the hall provides an ideal environment for presenting the purity and subtle vocal textures that define a cappella music, offering audiences an immersive and high-quality listening experience.

The Chong You Cultural and Educational Foundation has long been dedicated to promoting arts education and international cultural exchange. Through this collaboration with National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, the foundation hopes to bring world-class performances to campus, broaden students’ international perspectives, and encourage intercultural engagement. The Harvard Krokodiloes’ Taiwan tour will run from May 31 to June 4, with the NYUST performance serving as one of the tour’s featured campus events. Music enthusiasts and members of the public are warmly invited to attend and experience the artistry and emotional impact of world-class vocal performance.
