NYUST “Three Innovations” Initiative — Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
On April 28, 2026, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (NYUST) hosted the 14th “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition” at its International Conference Hall, showcasing a wide array of student creativity and practical achievements. The competition is designed to guide students in integrating academic theory with real-world application. Through project presentations and competitive exchange, it effectively fosters entrepreneurial motivation among students and faculty. NYUST remains committed to nurturing early-stage ventures and building a comprehensive innovation and incubation ecosystem, further strengthening the momentum of its “Three Innovations” (creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship) development on campus.
The 14th edition of the competition was divided into two main categories: “Innovative Products” and “Business Services,” with a total of 21 student-faculty teams participating. To enhance final-round performance, participants received pre-competition training in presentation skills, along with mentorship and insights from industry experts. This preparation helped strengthen students’ communication abilities and enabled them to present their projects with greater clarity and precision.
Finalist projects spanned a diverse range of innovations and AI-driven services. For example, one team developed an intelligent water bottle that integrates Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), artificial intelligence algorithms, and cloud-based data management to provide real-time hydration monitoring and personalized drinking recommendations. This innovation aims to promote healthy hydration habits and prevent health issues related to dehydration. In response to the challenges of an aging society, another team designed a smart anti-slip safety mat equipped with pressure sensors and real-time alert functions. This solution enhances safety in home and care environments by reducing the risk of undetected falls and associated injuries.
Participants demonstrated strong execution capabilities in transforming ideas into tangible solutions. Starting from original concepts, they applied interdisciplinary integration of hardware and software, along with data modeling techniques, to create technologies that address everyday needs. The competition not only refined students’ ideas into competitive skills but also cultivated emerging talent equipped with both technological expertise and practical business acumen.
The final round was judged by Mr. Chien Jui-Hung, CEO of Dahao Cultural and Creative Co., Ltd., and Mr. Wang Yu-Hsiang, Founder of Jump Area. Drawing on their extensive industry experience, they provided valuable guidance and practical insights to participating teams. The event generated enthusiastic engagement both on and off campus, garnering strong support and recognition for emerging entrepreneurial talent. Following the competition, the university affirmed its commitment to further enhancing its entrepreneurship mentoring programs, with the goal of strengthening project competitiveness and expanding students’ global perspectives.
