To support newly appointed faculty in integrating into the campus environment and to provide comprehensive teaching and research support, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech) held the New Faculty Orientation Symposium for the Spring Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026 on March 11, 2026, at the International Conference Hall. A total of 40 faculty members participated in the event, gaining valuable insights into campus resources through experience-sharing sessions led by senior faculty, and embarking on the next stage of their academic careers.
During the symposium, particular emphasis was placed on YunTech’s core strengths and institutional advantages. The Office of Industry–Academia Collaboration introduced the university’s well-established collaboration mechanisms, encouraging new faculty to leverage these resources and actively engage with local industry needs. Meanwhile, the Office of Research and Development provided detailed guidance on research project applications and technology transfer review processes. The university also offers substantial research incentives and seed funding to support faculty in establishing their research agendas at an early stage.
Senior faculty members highlighted that current global research trends increasingly emphasize interdisciplinary integration. YunTech’s diverse academic structure offers an ideal platform for cross-departmental collaboration and the pursuit of large-scale integrated research projects. New faculty were encouraged to maintain high teaching standards while actively participating in industry–academia collaboration projects to enhance the visibility and impact of their research outcomes.
Recognizing new faculty as a vital driving force for institutional development, YunTech remains committed to fostering a supportive and dynamic academic environment. In addition to providing robust administrative support systems, the university places strong emphasis on faculty interaction and collaboration. Through this symposium, participants not only gained forward-looking perspectives on higher education strategies, but also established interdisciplinary networks. Looking ahead, the university aspires to work collaboratively with its faculty to address global changes in education while enhancing YunTech’s academic reputation and industry impact.
