Office of International Affairs Hosts Warm Thanksgiving Event

International Students Send Love Across Borders Through Handwritten and Digital Cards**

The Office of International Affairs at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech) held the 2025 Thanksgiving International Student Luncheon on November 26.
International students were invited to enjoy a beautifully prepared buffet meal and express their gratitude and homesickness by creating handwritten cards and creative digital cards to send back home.
The event atmosphere was warm and joyful, attracting enthusiastic participation from students of many countries.
The university also thoughtfully provided free international mailing services, ensuring that students’ heartfelt messages reached their families around the world.

This event was warmly organized by the Office of International Affairs, with Vice President Wu Ming-Chang, Dean for International Affairs Yeh Hui-Ching, and Director of the Language Center Chiao Chin-Pu attending in person to interact with international students from across the globe and offer sincere holiday greetings.
More than 120 participants joined the event, spending a memorable and heartwarming afternoon filled with laughter and gratitude.

Vice President Wu encouraged the students, saying:
“Thankfulness is not just a holiday—it is a strength that helps us become stronger and happier.”
He praised the perseverance of international students adapting to a new environment and expressed gratitude to their families for supporting them from afar.
He also extended special appreciation to the Office of International Affairs for organizing the event with such care and wished everyone a beautiful and love-filled Thanksgiving.

Dean Yeh shared that gratitude is a way of life, not merely a ceremonial celebration.
She said, “A smile or a word of encouragement can make an unfamiliar place feel like home.”
She encouraged students to view today’s cards as the beginning of gratitude, extending appreciation into everyday life and interpersonal interactions, and she wished that every student would find warmth and support at YunTech.

Director Chiao remarked that Thanksgiving reminds us to say thank you.
He expressed admiration for the courage and growth of international students studying abroad and gratitude to their families for their support.
He also encouraged students to work hard in learning Chinese to enhance their international competitiveness.
The Language Center will continue to create more cross-cultural exchange opportunities and inspire students to send warmth back home.

A rich buffet was prepared for the event, allowing students to interact in a relaxed setting.
The card activity offered two formats: traditional paper cards and creative digital cards, allowing students to choose how to express their feelings.
The Office of International Affairs also provided international mailing services to help send the cards home, bringing both surprise and heartfelt emotion to many students.

This Thanksgiving event not only provided international students with an opportunity to express gratitude and homesickness but also served as an important practice in YunTech’s efforts to build a multicultural campus.
The Office of International Affairs will continue to organize more cross-cultural activities to support international students from around the world, helping them grow confidently at YunTech and build deeper connections and friendships.
